Who is My Neighbor?
Who is my neighbor
Is it someone who is just like me
Someone I can walk with, laugh and talk with
Who sees the way that I see
Or could my neighbor be someone who needs a friend
One who thinks quite differently?
Who is my neighbor
He's the one who needs to see Christ in me
He was a Jew, and a rich one too
Till men beat him up on the road to Jericho
A priest came by and we don't know why
But he mighta looked around and said "I better go!"
Then came another, a Levite brother
He didn't care, for he passed by too
But a Samaritan had compassion
Even though his folks were hated by the Jews
He was alert that the man was hurt
He washed his sores and lightened his load
Then as a gift he gave him a lift
He put him on his donkey and led him down the road
Took him to an inn, said "Care for him,
and whatever it costs I'll pay."
Then Jesus said, "Now which of these
was neighbor to the hurting man that day?"
